He served as Managing Editor at Sahelian Times and as a communications consultant for global organisations, including the International Institute for Criminal Investigations (IICI) on the Murad Code Project.
Recognised for his leadership in transparency and reform, Ismail co-led Nigeria’s Open Government Partnership (OGP) Anti-Corruption Thematic Group, shaping policies that birthed the Kano State Anti-Corruption Strategy and established school-based anti-corruption clubs across Northern Nigeria.
